If there’s one thing we’re learning more and more at The Farmer’s Daughter, it’s this:

Sometimes the best ideas don’t come from one business…
They come from a community.

This February, alongside a handful of incredible local businesses, we set out to create something a little different for Valentine’s Day. Not just a promotion. Not just an event.

An experience.

The Idea: A Date Night Worth Winning

In collaboration with:

…we dreamed up the idea of a fully curated, over-the-top romantic dinner experience for one lucky couple in our community.

Leading up to Valentine’s Day, guests could purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win what we envisioned as the ultimate date night—something elevated, intentional, and honestly… something you don’t typically get in a small town.

And the response?

Better than we could have imagined.

More Than a Giveaway

This wasn’t just about giving something away. It was about asking a bigger question:

What happens when local businesses come together to create something truly special?

From the very beginning, there was excitement. People were curious. They were engaged. They were in.

And that told us everything we needed to know.

The Experience: Thoughtful, Layered, and Intimate

Our winners, Josh and Sami Bruna, joined us for their evening a few weeks after Valentine’s Day—and what we didn’t expect was just how meaningful this night would be.

When they arrived, they shared something that stuck with all of us:

The last time they had experienced a true romantic dinner like this… was when they got engaged—12 years ago.

And in that moment, this became about so much more than a giveaway.

It became about recreating something people don’t always have time for anymore.

The evening itself was designed to feel completely immersive.

A private, candlelit dinner inside The Farmer’s Daughter after hours. A full tablescape. A quiet, romantic atmosphere.

Everything was intentionally paced and presented in courses:

  • A curated meat and cheese tray from Main Street Market

  • Steak, shrimp, baked potato, and salad from Gugs Bar & Grill

  • A bottle of red wine from Wildcat Express

  • And a decadent chocolate raspberry dessert from Blondie’s Bakery

It was slow. It was elevated. It was romantic in a way that felt rare. And for a couple of hours, it was just theirs.

What We Learned

This project was, in many ways, a test.

Could we, as local business owners, come together to create something outside of the norm—and would people respond to it?

The answer is yes.Not only did people respond—they were excited about it.

They supported it. They shared it. They wanted to be part of it. Because the truth is, people are craving experiences like this.

Things that feel thoughtful. Different. A little unexpected.

A Bigger Takeaway: February Is About More Than Valentine’s Day

One of the most meaningful parts of this entire project was what it represented.

February isn’t just about one day.

It’s about connection. It’s about love in all forms. It’s about showing up—for your people, your customers, and your fellow business owners.

This collaboration reminded us that “supporting local” can look like so many things:

  • Partnering on creative ideas

  • Sharing each other’s content

  • Inviting others into something bigger than yourself

And when you do that? You don’t just create a promotion. You create momentum. You create connection. You create something people remember.

What’s Next

If this experience showed us anything, it’s that this is just the beginning.

We’re already thinking about what else is possible—what else we can build together, what other experiences we can bring to our community, and how we can continue to create moments like this.

Because at the end of the day, this is what it’s all about.

Not just selling products. Not just hosting events. But creating something people feel. And we’re just getting started.
